MLB Hot Stove: Andruw Jones says “I’m Rich, Bitch”

According to multiple sources Andruw Jones has agreed in principle to a 2 year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly worth…..36.2 Million Dollars. He also gets a no trade clause with the new deal. My immediate reaction is this:
1) Willy Lowman has nothing on Scott Boras. This makes Andruw the fifth highest average salaried player in MLB.
2) All that money for a player who has diminished in defensive and offensive skill. Andruw swings for the fences on most pitches and swings for the parking lot with 2 strikes against him. He hit .222 with 94 rbi’s, 83 runs and had a .311 on base percentage over 154 games. Conversely, Aaron Rowand, free agent center fielder from the Philadelphia Phillies, hit .305 with 89 rbi’s, 105 runs and had a .374 on base percentage over 161 games. Oh, they had roughly the same home run totals last year. Andruw 26, Rowan 27.
We here at TH&L could not reach Aaron Rowand but last reports say he was heading for Atlantic City or Vegas because he knew he was about to get PAID. Mr. Jones, best of luck to you in L.A., a place where all your meaningless late inning home runs that come in blowouts will be in front of an even smaller crowd than at The TED in Atlanta. Scott Boras, your foursome with Drew Rosenhaus, OJ Simpson and Cancer is ready to tee off when you are.
