The Hook and Lateral

The Hook and Lateral is a sports blog that focuses mainly on football but will contain posts with thoughts, facts, and opinions about all other sports of interest as well (that doesn’t include hockey….sorry, Canada).  There is no goal here other than for the authors and reader community to vent frustrations through our sometimes humorous, sometimes insightful, and sometimes trivial discussion and commentary. We are not coaches, paid journalists, political advocates, or anybody else that you would normally think would know what they were talking about, which could be a good thing in this age of political correctness and rampant media distortion. Most of all, we are just bored guys that spend most of our free time watching and thinking about sports and figure, “why not get together and write in one place, so we can read each other’s stuff and maybe have other suckers people read it?”

It may be necessary to note that we are all from the South, so we apologize if we focus on college football and more specifically real, hard-nosed conferences as opposed to pansy, surfer-boy, or gimmicky conferences (you know who we’re talking about). You will get your dosage of NFL, however, including live game blogs and fantasy predictions, along with MLB and NBA in due time. In the end, though, most of our posts will be opinionated rants written after a few drinks, logical arguments on important issues in sports, or just random crap spewing from our self-righteous mouths. Enjoy your further reading and, if you get offended easily, don’t bother e-mailing any of us unless you want a smartass remark returned.
